Comment/Description

Course Description:
Science and Technology Studies (STS) is an interdisciplinary field of research that examines the relationships between culture, politics, society and the production of scientific knowledge and technology. The seminar will begin with some seminal texts in STS and philosophy of science. Later in the semester, the course will turn to feminist science and technology studies and recent publications in the field.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this course, students will:
1…. have an overview of the field of Science and Technology Studies.
2. ... be able to understand, discuss and critically evaluate STS and philosophical literature, and formulate their own position on it
3. ... be able to categorise and critically evaluate positions and arguments in STS.

Prerequisites:
Prior participation in the courses “Introduction to the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence” and “Philosophy for Cognitive Science” is recommended.

Course Format:
· Delivery Method: in-person, no recordings or online sessions
· Type of Contact & Contact Hours: weekly seminar sessions with 2 academic hours each
· Selection Process: none planned (assuming no more than 25 students are attending)

Assessment and Grading:
· Regular homework assignments (required, but not graded)
· Final term paper
