Kommentar/Beschreibung

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge about computer vison and programming experience (e.g. MATLAB, C++, openCV), strong interest in 3D reconstruction out of images or videos, motivation to learn how to reconstruct shape and appearance of real objects.

How to get a 3D model photos and how accurate is the resulting 3D model? This course will attempt to give an overview on computer vision based 3D reconstruction and evaluate the potential of available software solutions such as VisualSFM, Agisoft PhotoScan, Autodesk 123D Catch, ARCH 3D, Kinect Fusion. By reconstruction several real objects e.g. a coffee mug or the palace of Osnabrück, students attending this course will discuss, implement and evaluate several state of the art 3D reconstruction algorithms and 3D reconstruction applications using these algorithms.
